Clash of the Titans - AMINE-BROOKS
The Battle of the Beasts
Please note this piece and well as this site is still under construction.
Working on too many projects currently, but wanted to release this one before NCAA Wrestling Tournament. This match was to me one of the best matches between two warriors each optimized in every possible way. Moreover, the aftermath, the clear respect and eye contact, handshake makes this an even more valuable piece of wrestling art. And something the world of wrestling could use more of, not less.
Thanks for reading, "Just my .02", thanks and please enjoy....
In one of my favorite current wrestling rivalries on the mat, two warriors, two technical masters, two optimized machines, met in true life, epic battle featuring a real-life clash of the titans.
Both world-class and internationally accomplished wrestlers came to please, and together they gave the wrestling fanatics at Pinnacle Band Arena a performance they will not soon forget. At least, I know I won’t
For what it’s worth, and realize I’ve been in it for too long, I personally found their match so good that it reminded me more of a piece of art, than simply a wrestling match.
Believe it or not, from my perspective, we watched a literal masterpiece in the making, if you will. A masterpiece that might be called Power and Poetry in Motion.
For my .02, there was more high-level technical fireworks on display in that seven minutes and twenty seconds than 100 average wrestlers use in a lifetime. This was two masters of their craft going at it, in the perfect atmosphere and environment.
In my humble opinion, everything about this match was golden.
Akin to two world-class, chess players - physically, mentally, strategically, and technically optimized. In tune, tapped in and turned on. Each of them groomed via a lifetime of wrestling and training - and not surprisingly, each with a grandmaster, Coach, or two, in their respective and highly respected corners.
Truly this is a match was one for the books that ended with master Brooks ending up involuntarily sitting - literally and emotionally, "bummed" in the center of the mat.
In short, both Champions wrestled flawlessly - until the end when the time came that something had to give.
Amine, who tracks and counts opponents' footsteps like a Las Vegas gambler counts cards, finally figured out Brooks footwork tendencies and tell, took full advantage, and drew last blood.
This tracking, always recording, new knowledge that Mr. Amine took in for six minutes, or so, empowered Mr. Wolverine the opportunity to take good advantage of Mr. Brooks clearly slowing lower half, and consequential, overextended legs.
Which of course, brought Mr. Aaron's altitude, or stance level, a bit too high. This of course, allowed Amine that one extra nano-second of time. Moreover and unfortunately for Mr. Brooks, this extra split second is all a world-class wrestler needs in order to help him get the finish and secure the highly coveted, victory.
The match came ironically down to two, identical, picture-perfect, heal picks.
Both of these, right-siders collectively lead to 4 of Amine's 4 regulation points, the former pushing the match into overtime - with the ladder coming just :20 in into the Sudden Victory period, securing not only Amine's come from behind, 6-4 win, but also the team trophy.
To tell you the truth, Brooks is one of my personal favorite wrestlers to watch, and to be quite honest, I did not see that L coming for him. Matter of fact, personally felt Brooks would not feel the sting of defeat for many years to come.
As great as elder Amine is, and both hats off to Mr. I can see for Myles for his super courageous, hard-fought, and extremely precious victory. A victory that I imagine will be prized for a long time. No matter what.
However, with Brooks' raw talent, extra high wrestling IQ, and in my humble opinion, probably has the single greatest wrestling partners/coaches of any wrestler on planet Earth, I had him pegged as winning out. Well, that shows what I know.
